In almost 20 years of practice, Andrew J. Durkovic has represented companies, individuals and governments involved in a wide range of business, political and human rights disputes. Building upon a broad foundation in complex commercial litigation and international law as a partner with Baker & Hostetler LLP, Mr. Durkovic established his own Washington law firm in 2007, specializing in matters implicating political controversies, cross-border disputes and international litigation. Mr. Durkovic joined Amsterdam & Peroff as a partner in 2009.
Mr. Durkovic's practice frequently addresses
commercial disputes, rule-of-law violations, political
imprisonment, business expropriation, political risk, corporate
social responsibility, human rights abuses and U.S. foreign
policy. He draws upon a variety of legal and non-legal
vehicles to protect his clients' interests, including litigation,
international dispute resolution, government and multi-national
organizations, non-government organizations and global media.
Mr. Durkovic has been involved in matters touching upon countries
as diverse as Bermuda, Bolivia, Canada, Czech Republic, El
Salvador, Georgia, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Panama, Russia,
South Africa, the United Kingdom, Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Mr.
Durkovic has an affinity for Latin America, where his practice has
spanned more than ten years. He was schooled in South and
Central America, and he speaks, reads and writes Spanish
fluently.
Mr. Durkovic is a member of the International Law Section of the
American Bar Association, and he is admitted to practice law in
Washington, D.C., California and the District of Puerto
Rico. Mr. Durkovic received his undergraduate degree at UCLA
and his law degree at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.
